We are a team of Amador Valley High School students from Pleasanton, California. Our mission is to engage our members in approaching engineering challenges while building upon transportable skills applicable to the real world. Students are responsible for designing, building, testing, programming, and competing with their robots with and against teams from around the world. We integrate the curriculum of PLTW and use the highly competitive environment of VEX Robotics Competition to develop crucial organizational and leadership skills.
Since 2012, we have integrated the Avengineers VRC team into the PLTW curriculum to enhance students in expanding and applying their engineering skills.
Amador Valley High School is located in Pleasanton, CA in the outskirts of NorCal's Silicon Valley. We compete with many excellent teams around the SF Bay Area.
Regardless of previous experience, members continue to build upon key team building, time management, problem solving, and organizational skills.
Over the 10 years of competing on the international VRC platform, our club has competed across various competitions.
In the VEX Robotics Competitions (VRC), we design and build a robot to compete against other teams from around the world in a game-based engineering challenge. Classroom STEM concepts are put to the test as we work as a team to accomplish the common task of competing while all specializing in our own areas of expertise. Tournaments are held year-round at the regional, state, and national level, and champions go on to compete against the best in the world at the Global VEX Worlds every April.
Our team has many different task teams within the main team, and most members can decide to be a part of multiple depending on their own interests. Members can choose to work with the build team, programming team, and the challenge team and learn new things with older members as they go. There are sponsor-backed Online Challenges for VEX teams to demonstrate their skills in topics from CAD Modeling, to Product Photography, to Website Design. No matter your area of expertise or previous experience, we likely have a job for you.
If you aren't a student, you can still contribute to the team with a sponsorship / fundraiser opportunity, whether that be financial or a service donation, or by simply attending one of our events to cheer on the teams. Send us an email to lets us know you are interested!
Competition at the regional qualifier level involves 32-60 teams competing with their robots in a tournament style bracket. Teams who win the Excellence Award or the Tournament Champion move on to compete at a state level competition. From there the winners go to VEX Worlds in Dallas, TX, with 60+ other teams in the VRC league.

The Technology Student Association (TSA) is a national, non-profit organization of middle and high school students who are engaged in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) that enhances personal development, leadership, and career opportunities. Although a relatively new club at Amador, TSA is becoming increasingly popular among many students who are interested in STEM fields. Club members meet every other Thursday to work on their events and communicate with officers as well as discuss information regarding upcoming TSA conferences.

The Amador Valley Robotics Club is a team of high-school students building an autonomous submarine to compete at RoboSub, an elite underwater robotics competition. The team participates in the AUVSI International RoboSub Competition in San Diego every August. Since 2000, the team has perpetuated a legacy of problem solving and independent learning as the team is recognized nationally as the best performing high-school team in the competition. They had the highest scoring run at RoboSub 2015, and placed 7th overall, beating Cornell, IIT Bombay, and 28 other universities. They use the highly competitive environment of RoboSub to engage members in approaching engineering challenges & developing organizational leadership skills.
